Institutional Capacity Development

The program focuses on building the institutional capacity of FORCE and other partner community-based organizations in administration and financial management, networking and partnerships including resource mobilization.

Child and youth development

The program is dedicated to advancing child development and youth development by ensuring that children and young people not only survive but also thrive and succeed. This is achieved through a multifaceted approach encompassing access to health and nutrition, livelihood enhancement, capacity building, and active public engagements centred on child protection, well-being, and rights.

Education

FORCE is dedicated to ensuring that every child and young person can access high-quality primary education, fostering their development into valuable, contributing members of their communities. Our efforts in the education sector focus on providing vocational training in carpentry, welding, sewing, and building to youth, orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), and teenage mothers. Additionally, we support children from underprivileged households by covering school fees and implementing a school feeding program.

Our approach places a significant emphasis on skills development, particularly targeting OVCs, youth, and women. Through practical skill-building, our program aims to empower these individuals to create their own employment opportunities. This strategy not only enhances the employability of young people but also contributes to the absorption of additional youth into the workforce, thereby promoting job creation. Ultimately, our overarching goal is to nurture self-reliance among youth, women, and OVCs, enabling them not only to secure meaningful employment but also to actively participate in the comprehensive development of their communities.

Good governance and Human Rights

Force’s advocacy initiatives play a pivotal role in promoting human rights, participatory democracy, and inclusive participation of youth and women in leadership and governance processes. Civic education and awareness creation empower vulnerable individuals and groups with the skills needed to understand state obligations. The program advocates for equal access to justice, provides legal aid support, and emphasizes the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms (ADR).

The advocacy programs within FORCE create impactful opportunities for the promotion of human rights, including participatory democracy and inclusive governance. Human Rights Defenders engage in building coalitions and organizing human rights forums to increase access to justice, promote human rights, and protect the vulnerable. The department undertakes vital tasks such as documentation, investigation, reporting, monitoring, and interviewing victims of human rights violations and abuses. Through interventions like accompanying victims to court and other facilities, the program offers support services for adult, youth, and child victims of sexual assault, as well as their families and household members, ensuring a comprehensive approach to addressing and preventing human rights violations.

Sustainable Livelihoods

FORCE is dedicated to enhancing the socio-economic well-being of rural communities by increasing productivity through the adoption of improved seeds and agricultural practices. We assist in connecting these communities to markets, enabling them to sell surplus produce, improve nutrition and health, and manage natural resources sustainably. Our efforts contribute to achieving food security and economic development by imparting modern agricultural methods, providing fertilizers and seeds to vulnerable farmers, supporting watershed management programs, promoting rain harvesting, and offering training on better farming practices.

Our comprehensive approach extends to areas such as livestock vaccination, leadership development, group dynamics, savings for transformation, financial management, marketing, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and more. By integrating these elements, FORCE aims to create resilient communities that not only thrive economically but also actively contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Public Health and WASH

In the realm of public health and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), FORCE directs its efforts towards two key areas: HIV/AIDS, Water and Sanitation.

In addressing HIV/AIDS, FORCE engages in community mobilization, sensitization, and awareness campaigns. The organization facilitates referrals for HIV and TB screenings from the community to health facilities and ensures follow-up from the facility back to the community. Condom distribution and demonstrations on proper condom use are integral components of the initiative, along with the training of peer leaders. FORCE actively supports the dissemination of Information Education and Communication materials focusing on HIV prevention, care, and treatment.

Recognizing the unique challenges faced by adolescents and young people affected by HIV/AIDS and their immediate family members, FORCE extends psychosocial support to this demographic, contributing to a holistic approach to health and well-being.
